The head office of the
Chamber in Russia, RBCC Moscow is located in the very heart
of the Russian capital, adjacent to Pushkin Square and
within easy walking distance of the Kremlin.
The RBCC has had a permanent
presence in the Russian capital since 1987. The British
Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, inaugurated the first
RBCC office at the World Trade Centre, since when the
Chamber has been actively engaged in supporting its member
companies in their daily business activities. During the
early years of the Chamber's operations, the RBCC's offices
were particularly valuable as a stepping stone for a series
of British member companies to develop their export business
to Russia. Companies using the RBCC's presence as a regular
base for frequent business visits invariably went on to gain
accreditation of their own representative offices in what
was then the Soviet Union. Among the first wave of 'RBCC
Core Members' of the inaugural office are such companies as
Amersham International, GlaxoSmithKline, Kodak, Schlumberger
and Simon Carves. The RBCC's Moscow Office continues to be a
valuable port of call for members seeking information,
advice and business support for their ongoing activities. In
addition to organising a series of high-quality business
events for members throughout the year, RBCC Moscow is also
the home of the Chamber's regular publications, the weekly
RBCC Observer Newsletter and the monthly members' magazine,
the RBCC Bulletin.
