As part of its ongoing collaboration with the Russian mining and extractives industries through the St Petersburg Mining University, the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining will be hosting the 2nd Russian-UK Raw Materials Dialogue in London from 23 to 25 October 2018. This event will showcase London as the global financial hub; provide opportunities for business and professional networking between mining and financial professionals; as well as educating delegates on the significant and important relationship between financial institutions and the raw materials and minerals extraction industries.
Delegates will meet at the St Paul’s venue in Aldersgate on 24 October to participate in a series of presentations and discussions focussed on various aspects of mining investment in the UK and Russia. The expert speakers confirmed from the UK include Nick Hatch of Nick Hatch Mining Advisory, Mark Kirkbride of West Cumbria Mining, Stephen Henley of the International Raw Materials Observatory and Prof Jan Cilliers of the Royal School of Mines. The experts from Russia speaking include Evgenia Onuschenko of Polymetal International, Maksim Tralo of Hermes-Sojitz, Aleksandr Sobolov of Geoconsult Competent, and Vsevolod of the Russian Copper Company. The day will conclude with a presentation by Chris Broadbent of Wardell Armstrong.
The event will reconvene on 25 October in the Institute’s offices at 297 Euston Road for a Breakfast Business Forum starting at 8.45am where company representatives looking to develop links with Russian companies operating in the Raw Materials sector or strengthen existing ones can network with Russian company representatives, be briefed on opportunities or how to go about setting up such businesses. The Russian industry representatives will include all of the speakers from the first day with others set to join them.
