Be able to deal with clients directly and service
them efficiently
Work well within a team environment
Use initiative and manage work load well
Work well under pressure
Fluent in Russian and English to a high level

To be able to translate at meetings
Software experience
Knowledge and experience of using Iris accounts

Exciting volunteering opportunity for Russian
speaking volunteer with VSO in Tajikistan!
Sugd Oblast’ covers the whole of Northern Tajikistan
and is the home of ancient Sogdian culture and
important trading posts on the old Silk Road. The
regional government of Sugd recently approached VSO
to identify a volunteer who can help them to
translate investment promotion materials out of
Russian into English and support and coach regional
and district governments in Sugd to develop
marketing materials including a website that will
attract international investment into the oblast’.
We are looking for Russian speakers with high levels
of verbal fluency and reading comprehension in
Russian language, fluent spoken and written English
(native standard) and some experience of basic web
design packages and developing promotional
materials, to live and volunteer in Khojand for
between 7 months and 1 year starting some time
between July and October. Diplomacy, adaptability,
creativity and patience are essential attributes and
potential candidates will need to attend VSO’s
selection process, before attending international
development skills training in the UK.
VSO provides a modest living allowance and the
volunteer will be provided with their own bedroom,
and shared facilities in a home-stay. The volunteer
will receive Tajik lessons and have the opportunity
to learn more about this fascinating and rich
Central Asian culture.
