Letter From Roger Munnings Re: Recruitment of New Executive Director

Dear Members and Friends of RBCC,

Our Executive Director, Trevor Barton, is to retire from RBCC at the end of September 2017 after five years excellent and dedicated service in the role and some 15 years as a member of RBCC’s Board of Directors.  I cannot speak too highly of Trevor’s contribution and we will celebrate it and thank him fully later in the year.
Your Board is now beginning the search for a successor and I write to you, as Members and Friends of RBCC, ahead of the post being advertised, to see if you are aware of any candidates for the role.

We are looking for a committed individual to lead and manage the organisation. The Executive Director is a Member of the Board of Directors and Company Secretary. He or she reports to the Board on strategy, performance and major issues and liaises regularly with member companies and with RBCC’s Patron, Prince Michael of Kent, his staff, the Embassies and Consulates in Russia and the UK, senior government members and senior representatives of key business organisations in both countries.

With a team of some 14 executive staff in the UK and Russia, the Executive Director has overarching responsibility for RBCC’s services to its members and for its activities in promoting bilateral trade and investment between the UK and Russia, while at the same time ensuring the efficient internal management of the organisation, fulfilment of regulatory obligations and good financial management.

As the face of RBCC in the UK and along with RBCC’s senior personnel in Russia, the Executive Director ensures that the interests and views of RBCC’s members are taken into account in debates on various topics, regularly takes part in events, speaks at conferences and seminars and liaises with the media.

We are looking for somebody with wide-ranging and relevant business experience, including or closely related to business between the UK and Russia, and with contemporary knowledge of Russia and the UK/Russia relationship. Applicants should have strong skills in leading, motivating and managing international teams, while demonstrating resilience and determination and a results-oriented commercial awareness and approach. Public speaking, diplomacy, networking and people skills are central to the role.

Fluent spoken and written English language is an absolute requirement and good Russian language skills will be considered a strong asset.

A more detailed job specification and details of the application process are available here

Early notifications of interest to RBCC by Friday 2nd June if and where possible. Deadline for applications Monday 19th June.

Please let us know (via anna.vidiney@rbcc.com) of anyone who you feel has the appropriate competencies, energy, keenness and commitment and please encourage them to apply.

Thank you and best wishes,

Roger Munnings
Chairman of the Board of Directors, RBCC
