Arkady Dvorkovich

On the 3rd of October 2018 Mr Dvorkovich was elected as a new President of FIDE at the General Assembly in Batumi, Georgia.

Arkady Dvorkovich is a Chairman of Skolkovo Foundation since September 2018.

He has served as the Chairman of the local organizing committee for the FIFA World Cup-2018 that was universally praised as one of the best organized global sport events in history.

Previously, he was Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation from May 2012 to May 2018. As Deputy Prime Minister he coordinated the work of the federal executive bodies and issues instructions in the following areas: state policy on agriculture; state policy on fisheries; state policy on transport; state policy on communications; state policy on IT; state policy on the fuel and energy complex (excluding the granting of rights to use mineral resources) and electricity generation; state policy on industry (with the exception of the defence industry), including the pharmaceutical and medical equipment industries; state policy on innovation; state policy on science; state policy on biotechnology.

Arkady Dvorkovich was Aide to the President of the Russian Federation from 2008 to May 2012 and was Head of the Presidential Experts’ Directorate from 2004 to 2008.

In 2001 he was appointed Deputy Minister for Economic Development and Trade, and in 2000 he was an expert at the Centre for Strategic Research and Adviser to the Minister for Economic Development and Trade.

In 1994 he became consultant, senior expert, Chief Executive and Scientific Director of the Economic Expert Group of the Russian Ministry of Finance.

In 1994 he graduated from the Economics Department of Lomonosov Moscow State University with a degree in Economic Cybernetics, and from the New Economic School with a Masters in Economics. In 1997 he also graduated from Duke University in North Carolina with a Masters in Economics.

Arkady Dvorkovich was born in 1972 in Moscow.
