Senior Advisor, Lambert Energy Advisory

Peter Charow is a Senior Advisor to Lambert Energy Advisory, a London-based advisory group. Prior to joining LEA, Mr Charow was Vice President for Russia of BP p.l.c. with responsibility for strategy, risk management and strategic communications for BP’s Russia businesses. Mr. Charow worked for Amoco and BP for 22 years, eight of which were spent in Moscow including as President of BP Russia from 2002-2005. Prior to joining Amoco, Mr. Charow founded and led the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia from 1994-1997, building the organization from a start up to the leading organization representing foreign investors in Russia. Mr. Charow moved to Russia in 1992 as Head of Representation for Chilewich Corporation, a New York-based commodities trading firm. Prior to that he worked in various consulting and advisory roles in New York.

Mr. Charow holds several board positions including Chairman of the Board of the Center for Entrepreneurship, a company which provides training for entrepreneurs in Russia. He is also Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Mariinsky Theatre Charitable Trust in London and a member of the board of directors of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce. Mr Charow was a non-executive director of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works from 2007-2015, as well as Chairman of the MMK Board Audit Committee. He also served on the board of TNK-BP Holdings from 2009-2013.

Mr. Charow is a graduate of Swarthmore College and holds M.A. and M.Phil. degrees in Political Science from Columbia University and the Harriman Institute for Advanced Soviet Studies. He spent a year as a Fulbright Scholar at Leningrad State University in the mid-1980’s. He also holds an Executive MBA from the Tuck School of Business of Dartmouth College and is a fluent Russian speaker.
