We are delighted that he is joining us as his presence will ensure the high profile of the mission and will enable access that we might not have otherwise been granted.

Aims of the Trade Mission:

  • Meet potential business partners
  • Meet with local Government to explore business and investment opportunities
  • Learn about previously established investments and ventures

Please note this mission is also open to members and non-members alike.

The Ural Federal District

The Ural Federal District, in which the Sverdlovsk Oblast and administrative capital Yekaterinburg are located, is situated in a geographic region between the East European and West Siberian Plains. It is at the intersection of the main overland trade routes between Europe and Asia and possesses important transport and fluvial arteries. It is the home of nearly 10% of Russia’s population, including 4.3 million in the Sverdlovsk Oblast, where Yekaterinburg is located.

It is one of the richest Russian regions in terms of minerals and raw materials. It accounts for more than 2/3 of Russia’s total oil and gas reserves and significant reserves of various metals, minerals, precious and semi-precious stones. It offers attractive opportunities in a wide range of sectors, including engineering, metallurgy, chemicals, agriculture, livestock, IT and education. Yekaterinburg has recently been chosen to host the 2023 Summer Universiade (World Student Games). This is an important event in the global sporting calendar, which will present a number of opportunities in a number of sectors.

It prides itself on its well-educated and productive workforce and a diversified local economy. It boasts an extensive metallurgical industry, and a competitive machinery and pharmaceuticals sector. Despite having abundant natural resources, it is the region’s industrial hub and the majority of its exports are not from the natural resource sector.

Given its strong industrial and international focus, Yekaterinburg has hosted INNOPROM since 2010. This international industrial exhibition is one of the most important of its kind in Russia for industry, innovation and technology. Over 250 exhibitions and international congresses are held in the region annually.
